Date Added: October 22, 2010 05:36:28 PM |
When it comes down to it, most of us would rather solve a disagreement with our words and reasoning rather than with our fists. Fighting goes against all that is harmonious in life and nature. It is partially a decision between you being injured or you seriously injuring the other person so you have to consider the humanistic response of fight or flight. The mentality with many individuals today is one of non-confrontationalism. Unfortunately, you may encounter a situation where you get backed into a corner and all the reasoning in the world is not going to help you avoid physical violence with that person. So what do you do? It depends on the situation. If it is one that happens unexpectedly or is a spontaneous in nature, there isn’t much time to prepare. It’s more a matter of reaction rather than preparation since you won’t have the time to do so. So it follows that you will need to be physically fit in order to deal with this type of situation should you be confronted with it. There are numerous ways in which you can be prepared physically, but one of the best ways is by enrolling in a boxing fitness program to become physically fit. On the other hand, if you know in advance that you will be engaged in physical combat with someone, whether it is out of disagreement or if it is for competitive reasons, you will definitely benefit from that boxing fitness program we referred to above. However, there is more to preparing for a fight than just being in good physical shape and enrolling in some type of There is a certain degree of mental preparation involved as well and the following will give you an idea how to do that. Start by completely relaxing your body and your mind. You can do a little meditation or even yoga if that is something that appeals to you. The expression “empty your mind” has a great deal of validity where this is concerned, but more importantly, you need to relax your entire body from head to foot. Deep breathing usually helps. Once you are feeling completely relaxed you need to start focusing on the fight itself. Keeping your eyes closed, imagine your moves, your strategy, and continually outsmarting your opponent’s moves. Remember that speed and strength are what you need to focus on. The faster and stronger you are, the greater the likelihood that you will be victorious in battle. Stay calm and imagine how you are going to attack and react to your opponent’s attacks. Never forget that if you don’t strike first, your opponent most likely will, especially if you back up when they advance towards you. Additionally, learn how to let their negative comments during the fight just roll off of you like water off your back. After all, it isn’t their words that can hurt you. Stay calm and remain focused on your goal – to win the fight. |
