Women’s Women's fashion is constantly changing, and sometimes there are so many things to choose from, it can be hard to know what to wear. Let’s talk about particular styles of pants and skirts - culottes and pencil skirts, because they’ll absolutely never let you down when you’re looking for an edge with your outfits.

Culottes for every occasion

Culottes are becoming increasingly popular pants, mostly because they are a versatile garment that work in any scenario, and they’re so unique in their appearance that they leave you feeling on form no matter where you’re going. One of the greatest things about culottes is the fact that stockings can be layered underneath for extra warmth when the weather is slightly cooler, which makes them wearable all year round! Culottes can be worn with a variety of tops, blouses, shoes, and jackets and they’ll make you feel light and comfortable all day long.

If you want to compliment your figure a little more, why not dress up your culottes with vibrant, fitted shirts, and tuck in the shirt at the front for a little bit extra pizzazz? If you want to be a little extra trendy, you can always maintain the ‘baggy’ look with  if a loose-fitting blouse or oversized tee. There are no limits to what you can do! (Even better - culottes often have pockets, too!) In line with the more casual look, boxy tops make a great pairing with culottes because their shapeless, slightly oversized cut gives you more room to play with accessories such as long necklaces and hoop earrings. 

Reviving an old classic

Pencil skirts have been in and out of fashion since they came into the fashion world, but the greatest thing is that they’re continuing to evolve in their versatility. They are made in a variety of lengths, and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Their design is so that they look great with most figures, and look stunning with a snazzy pair of heels. Commonly worn in the office, pencil skirts are the perfect go-to for workwear, however, as fashion becomes increasingly experimental, more and more women are wearing them in a casual, relaxed setting.

These days, you can find pencil skirts in a variety of patterns and colours, beyond the standard black or grey you’d normally see in the office wear section of the department store. Many women enjoy experimenting with different kinds of belts, too, which in turn enables them to be even more bold in their choice of shirts and shoes. 

In winter, why not snuggle up in a thicker knit pencil skirt. Paired with tights and boots, you’ll be ready to take on the cold with class and comfort. In summer, a loose-fitting cami and sandals would be a beautiful combination alongside a bright, printed pencil skirt - you’ll stand out at your next barbecue or day out with friends.

Culottes are loose-fitting and flowy, whereas pencil skirts are more fitted to your body. They’re drastically different garments but equally as exciting to wear and play around with when it comes to personal styling. If you’re into trying something a little different and want to own an item of clothing that gives you plenty of room to move whilst rocking a unique look (which doubles up as both smart and casual), grab yourself some culottes. Alternatively, if you want to hug your gorgeous figure a little more, and play around with different shirts and shoes, there should be a pencil skirt in your wardrobe!
